Any help gratefully received ! I'm trying to install FreeBSD 2.1 from the Walnut Creek CD (jan96) on a DEC Celebris GL 5100 with an Adaptec 5100 AHA-2940 SCSI controller, a Toshiba SCSI CD-ROM and two Seagate ST15230N 4Gb discs, so there's nothing but a floppy and a SCSI bus. Using the Novice option, I can label the disc, but then when it tries to newfs my first error message is WARNING ! Unable to swap to /dev/sd0s1b: Device not configured. and then Unable to make new root file system on /dev/rsd0a ! Command returned status 1 So then I tried "boot -c" and "configure> visual" and noticed that the AHA-2940 was not configured, but that AHA-140 was; so I deleted all the SCSI controllers except for the AHA-2940 and tried again full of hope, but the same problems happened. It must be easy, though, and if anybody has any suggestions I'd be really grateful. Mail reply preferred ... TIA, Peter Billam
