I once ran across someone else I'm not sure what the state of the pcmcia ethernet support in 2.1 was vis-a-vis the 3COM card, the only card I ever verified as working was the National InfoMover card, which uses the ze driver. The BSD-Nomads group in Japan has been working away on this for awhile, and have a complete drop-in system for 2.1 RELEASE that's going through early ALPHA testing. I can't recall the URL in Japan for this off hand so I'll just stick the latest snapshot up on ftp://freefall.freebsd.org/incoming/pccard-test-960123.tar.gz for you to grab. Support for various ethernet cards and modems is claimed in the docs, though my modem wasn't on the list and (not surprisingly) didn't work. Feedback to the nomads please! Their email contact info should be in the package. Oh, and Hi Hugh! :-) -- - Jordan Hubbard President, FreeBSD Project
