The boot drive is located on one of the 1540's due to the fact that you have to use different boot blocks in order to boot from the 2940. I currently have the 2940 drive mounted on /usr/var and it seems to be pretty reliable, although I have seen a couple of 'kernel: sequencer interrupt ff' messages. I had to reconfigure the kernel in order to set the main drive on the 1540 to sd0 instead of the default sd1 when the 2940 is also installed. Other than that, it's so far worked really well...
