Date: Tue, 13 Feb 1996 13:14:00 +0000 Organization: Metronome Solutions Ltd Lines: 38 Message-ID: <31208E98.32E1@metrosol.demon.co.uk> NNTP-Posting-Host: hplona91.uksr.hp.com Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Mailer: Mozilla 2.0b6a (X11; I; HP-UX A.09.05 9000/720) Don't get me wrong, it works wonderfully, is easy to configure, I love it, but there is one slight problem that I would like to get around to solving. When I run ppp the first time from a reboot, I get the following message: This example is when I run ppp -auto provider, though I get a similar problem when I run it interactivly. User Process PPP. Written by Toshiharu OHNO. Log level is 09 can't open /etc/ppp/ppp.secret. Warning: No password entry for this host in ppp.secret Warning: All manipulation is allowed by anyone in the world Using interface: tun0 Automatic mode SIOCAIFADDR: File exists The last line is the problem. PPP will not connect, though it will dial and log in. That is to say, the connection is made, the routing is altered, but packets do not flow. If I kill the process and start again, I do not get the last line of the message, and everything works fine. This is 100% reproducible. Only happens on the first time. Never happens after I kill and restart the process. Any suggestions before I start hunting through the code? ---------------------------------------------------------- Steve Gailey steveg@metrosol.demon.co.uk Metronome Solutions Ltd.
