I am reposting this with a more appropriate subject line.

In specific, I would like to see a proxy server.
Socks been compiled anywhere??

I want to run a proxy server on a FreeBSD box at home to use with a PPP
Dial up line to a service provider. I then will access the world with other
machines (various flavors) thru this proxy server. I want a proxy rather
than a firewall, so I do not have to get more IP addresses. I know this can
be done, Just wondering if anybody has a version that is available for
FreeBSD. I looked in the ported software list, and none is there.

I have heard about SOCKS, but don't know if it will work with FreeBSD.
Also, I understand it is not all that transparent to the applications
as some other proxy servers are. I can do some testing for functionality
if necessary. I know the Internet provider quite well and can get them
to work with me (within reason!)
