Installation Problem! Message-ID: <277cc$142a3a.138@news.express.ca> Date: Thu, 08 Feb 1996 04:28:56 GMT Organization: Eth0s Inc. Reply-To: comand@express.ca X-Newsreader: Forte Free Agent 1.0.82 Lines: 59 Help! Please! I recently dug out my BSDisc (2.0.5), and am having problems installing.... Here's the scoop: I installed 2.0.5 on one of my other machines awhile ago, using NFS over the network here, and it worked like a breeze... Now I want to install 2.0.5 on the CD server. This DOES NOT work for me at all. Hardware: Intel 486DX2/66 VLB 16MB RAM 420MB HDD Panasonic 2x CDROM NE2000 Ethernet Card Synopsis: All the hardware mentioned above is detected and initialized properly, Install goes as normal until I attempt to (C)ommit my changes. Problems: Once i commit, i switch over to VC 1, and watch as it begins to create the filesystems. Immediately after the superblock copies are printed out, it gives the message cpio: not creating /dev/rw???... newer or same age version exists . ... and goes on to the next slice, at which time it does the same thing. Once all the filesystems have been run through, VC 1 says: DEBUG: No private info for chunk 2! DEBUG: Starting an emergency holographic shell over on the 4th screen... It then hangs for a few seconds, and VC 0 reports panic: page fault syncing disks.... VC 1 reports, Fatal trap 12: page fault while in kernel mode fault virtual address = 0x60 fault code = supervisor write, page not present instruction pointer = 0x8:0xf010f0d7 code segment = base 0x0, limit 0xfffff, type 0x1b = DPL 0, pres 1, def32 1, gran 1 processor eflags = interrupt enabled, resume, IOPL = 0 current process = Idle interrupt mask = net tty bio This happens EVERY TIME i try to install from the CD, and as it would happen, with my hard drive usage, it is the only install option that will work. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! C.C.Omand
