for some reason I cannot get XFree86 to start. I am using the old
Beta version (1.0.2a) but still it should work. it starts. the screen
blanks and then synchronizes but remains blank and the keyboard is
unresponsive. my equipment is a Diamond Speedstar Plus v5.01 (et4000) and a NEC
multisync II. here is a dump of /usr/X386/lib/X11/xdm/xdm-errors
