Subject: Installing 386BSD - Help!
Lines: 31

I have the following configuration:

Compudyne 486-33 Mhz
8 MB of Ram
203 MB Maxtor IDE drive
2 Serial and 1 parallel port
1 1.2 MB Floppy
1 1.44 MB Floppy

The disk has 3 partitions
1 40MB Main DOS
1 20MB Extended DOS
1 140MB 386BSD

I first loaded the tiny BSD from the floppy and it works. Then I ran
"install" and it succesfully completed installation on the hard disk.
The problem is that the machine can not then boot up from the hard
drive. The error is: "cannot find label; panic: cannot mount root", then
the machine reboots itself again and again.

I went to the list of FAQ and found that question 2.10 is very similar
to my problem. So I tried to use the dist.fs from
unofficial/newbootables.cgd but that did not work either (that is I
booted again from the floppy and rerun the "install" program, and then
tried to boot from the hard drive)

Any suggestions?

Sebastian
