Date: 20 Feb 1996 13:10:06 -0700 Organization: Video Lottery Consultants, Bozeman MT. Lines: 16 Distribution: usa Message-ID: <4gd9qu$1679@olympus.bzn.vlt.eds.com> NNTP-Posting-Host: olympus.bzn.vlt.eds.com I'm interested in purchasing a Gateway Solo or Micron Millenia Transport portable. I will probably be installing FreeBSD 2.1 on this portable. Is anyone using these portables (or similar ones) running FreeBSD? Will the CD-ROM and PCMCIA devices work ok? The portables will have a 28.8 fax/modem PCMCIA device and I was wondering if I'd get it to work all right? Also, installing FreeBSD from a CD using the modular CD-ROM -- will this work all right? Is a portable a good PC to use FreeBSD on? Or would I be better off with a desktop? Thanks in advance for any suggestions. -- \_ \_ \_ \_\_\_\_\_ Brent Carlson \_ \_ \_ \_ VLT Info Services/EDS (406) 585-6600 ext. 5123 \_ \_ \_ \_ 2311 South 7th Avenue carlson@bzn.vlt.eds.com \_ \_\_\_\_ \_ Bozeman, MT 59715
