This xdm looks for binaries in /usr/bin/X11, so mkdir /usr/bin/X11 and ln -s everything into /usr/X386/bin. While you are about it, do likewise for /usr/lib/X11 into /usr/X386/lib/X11. However, I cannot get xdm to allow me to login - the ownership of /dev/vga oscillates between my user-id and root.
