This problem is because the horizontal phase sync pulse is specified
incorrectly
for your monitor and card. As a result, the card thinks that the monitor's
visible area begins some distance from the real edge of your screen. Since
you've also told it that the screen is a certain size, of course you get a
wraparound effect as the monitor moves the electron gun to the beginnning of
the screen upon reaching the right edge.

You need to optimize your Monitors section in your XF86Config file, as the
defaults are really not all that applicable to some monitors. Read
/usr/X11/lib/X11/doc/VideoModes.doc to see what you should do to get this
problem to go away. I found a program called "xvidtune" very helpful in
getting the right sync pulse width and start (this often takes a bit of
trial-and-error to get right).
