Is new distribution planned shortly? I guess I can just upgrade the kernel? Walnut Creek is pressing the official FreeBSD distribution onto a CD. Everybody else is free to do this, too, since the distributions are also available by ftp. It's also possible for interested people to roll their own distributions, but there aren't many. I know of some US school that was distributing a CD containing a private FreeBSD version somewhere, and i've submitted a privately built SNAP version of the FreeBSD-2.2 development branch, to be included into the CD-ROM with the proceedings of the GUUG Spring Meeting to be held next week. (GUUG == German Unix Users Group) There's no future release planned yet (i.e., there are no estimations available about the time when this would happen). It's not even clear whether the next release will be a bugfix upgrade of the 2.1 line, or whether it will be 2.2 containing all the newly developed things. -- cheers, J"org joerg_wunsch@uriah.heep.sax.de -- http://www.sax.de/~joerg/ -- NIC: JW11-RIPE Never trust an operating system you don't have sources for. ;-)
