I had a similar problem, which I cured by changing the MRU, in my
case to 552 or some other unlikely number. Have a look to see what
value of MRU your ISP is setting, I think show mru or some such
should give you this information. If it is not 1500, then put a
set mru xxx in the default section of your configuration file, where
xxx is the value that your ISP is negotiating.

No garantees, but it worked for me.
