Hello.

Several days ago I installed without a hitch the latest version
of freebsd (off of DOS) unto a second IDE hard drive. However, now I cannot
boot up. I am getting a panic error saying, verbatum I believe, "can't
mount partition root" when I boot up using the hard disk based kernel.
Using the "troubleshooting" diskette I can look around and see all the
config. files and all looks fine.

This major problem, I suspect, is caused by the way I have partitioned
that second drive. That being that the first disk partition is a DOS
(primary) partition and the subsequent ones are UNIX ones. Would someone
please confirm or deny that this is almost if not *the* cause of my
problem? And if it is, would that same person -- if he or she knows --
please share with me why that is so.

Thank you very much.

Gratefully,

Boguslaw
