Hello,
I've been going around in circles about this and I haven't
made any headway. I was hoping someone could help jar something
loose and help me figure out why this isn't working.

	I have a USR 28,800 internal modem on a BSDI 2.1 machine
(no patches). I can communicate directly with the modem by doing
a `tip tty01` and can type AT command sequences. At that point,
I can dial a destination (work) and log into the terminal server.
I get connected at 28,800 and get a prompt and can enter my username
and password.

I have also set up a systemname in the /etc/remote file and
can issue a `tip systemname` and the modem goes off hook, dials
the number, and connects at 28,800. At this time it says "connected"
but I can't get a response when I hit return. It just hangs there
fat, dumb, and happy. Eventually, it times out and disconnects.

I also get the same type of response when I issue a
`ppp -x Psystem`. It connects up, but doesn't chat with the
terminal server because it never gets a prompt. Is there anything
obvious that I'm doing wrong? It seems like when `tip` or `ppp`
control the modem, something goes wrong.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
