Well after several emails between the team member who handles the SCSI driver here is an answer. I think you and I have the same exact motherboard. You don't have a 2940. A 2940 is Adaptec's stand alone PCI card based on the aic7870 (or 7880 if its an ultra model) chip. The motherboards that use aic7xxx chips either use an aic7850, and aic7870, or an aic7880. The aic7870 and 7880 are supported. The 7850 (which is a pared down 7870) is not supported yet and that is what is on your motherboard. There are a lot of vendors that pawn their MBs off as having a "built in 2940", but the truth is that the 7850 doesn't have the same performance as a 7870 based board. Hope this info is what you wanted. As of right now there is no driver available that properly handles the 7850, but it is in the works. Marcelino Enriquez
