Lines: 29 Message-ID: <4hfbus$mc7@hops.entertain.com> NNTP-Posting-Host: ppp003.entertain.com X-Newsreader: WinVN 0.92.5 I have BSDi 2.0 with patches, running on a 486/66 EISA with 32MB RAM. I also run Apache 1.02, and have a digiboard PC/Xem board with 32 rs232 ports. My SCSI controller is an Adaptec 1740. Lately, as my system has been getting busier, it will panic with 'trap with null curproc' messages. The system is becoming unreliable, in that it can't seem to stay up longer than 5 days. Two things which might be contributing to the problem: 1) The system disk will occasionally (every 3 weeks, on average) print messages to the console registering hardware write problems, and give what looks like a block or sector number. I think it is most likely that the system is trying to write to the swap partition on the disk in an area which is flakey, or some system files are being written to in a flakey area. (I'll try to swap this disk out as soon as possible. 2) I have one class C network which is subnetted incorrectly, resulting in lots of 'arpnew' warnings. We are trying to move the customer to the correct subnets, but progress is slow. Has anyone seen this panic message in BSDi? Does anybody know what the system is trying to tell me? Does anyone know if there are any utilities that can be run to identify and map out of availability the bad sectors on my system disk? Any help appreciated! Please email... thanks. I'll post results. dwatson@abwam.com
