Using the usermode PPP to contact our provider... everything works great
except....

it's not auto dialing NOR re-establishing the connection?

we're using "ppp -auto unicomp" to connect, but the connection will not
start until we try to ping them...

Any hope?

here's the /etc/ppp/ppp.conf:

default:
 disable chap
 disable lqr
 deny lqr
 set debug phase lcp
 set device /dev/cuaa1
 set speed 115200
 set dial "ABORT BUSY ABORT NO\\sCARRIER TIMEOUT 5 \"\" ATE1Q0M1 OK-AT-OK \\dATDT\\T TIMEOUT 40 CONNECT"

unicomp:
 set phone <phone #>
 set login "TIMEOUT 5 name:-\\r-name: <id> word: <yeah, right> prompt ppp"
 set ifaddr 199.1.42.155 199.1.42.5
 set timeout 0
 dial
