Date: 4 Mar 1996 22:42:34 GMT Organization: Stanford University: Computer Science Department, CA USA Lines: 10 Message-ID: <4hfrkq$nbp@Radon.Stanford.EDU> NNTP-Posting-Host: heron.stanford.edu I try to avoid logging in as root, so I open an account for myself. When I don't log in as root and try to edit a simple file (e.g. .login) using vi, I get the following error message: log db: Permission denied. I check the permissions of vi and it shows -r-xr-xr-x, so it should be runnable by everyone. Anyone has any ideas? Thanks in advance. Ken
