What is a good rule of 'thumb' to use for determining the max processes
on a FreeBSD machine? (I am guessing it would have to do with the speed
of your processor and available memory/IO)

Ocassionaly running out of process on our poor news server... :>

Setting to CHILD_MAX and OPEN_MAX= 256 caused the machine to 'drop' off
the net for up to 30 minutes at a time without actually crashing, and 128
while more VERY stable, leads to the dreaded out of processes message a
little to often.

128Megs of Memory and a P100... Any suggestions folks?
