Here is the clue to my problems! First (as many of you guessed) the fontpath was wrong! There was a leading "/" missing in front of the 2nd path! The xdm couldn't lock the pid file 'cause I mounted the whole stuff via nfs from a workstation! So I put the pid file in my local /tmp directory and so xdm works now too! Finally the mouse didn't work (Logitech). I tried to configure it on com1 and then on com2 with all settings you can imagine! (Emulate3Dbutton[on|off], BaudRate, Sampling Rate) Finally I tried another mouse (microsoft) and this one worked. So the mistake came from the mouse not from the server! Now my logitech is also working (I'm using microsoft "/dev/com1") So I'm happy now, hope some of you too!! - Peter 8-} --- /-------------------------------------------------------------------\ | Peter Burgstaller| Student of Computerscience | | (peter@cosy.sbg.ac.at)| in Salzburg, Austria (Europe) | | "So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish" (Douglas Adams) | \-------------------------------------------------------------------/ -- /-------------------------------------------------------------------\ | Peter Burgstaller| Student of Computerscience | | (peter@cosy.sbg.ac.at)| in Salzburg, Austria (Europe) | | "So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish" (Douglas Adams) | \-------------------------------------------------------------------/
