I can : (blindly) shut the system down, and reboot, but to no avail. The system And, if anyone's watching, I've received the way around this problem. Disable all the comports in the visual editor of the Kernel during the boot. When FreeBSD checks for com ports it sends out a little burp to each typical com port. The Mach64 was interpretting this as DPMS, and shutting down the monitor.
