It does not. There seem to be some sort of incompatibilities between compat/incude/sys/cdefs.h and the one in /usr/include/sys. I am not sure what it is, but if you simply _remove_ all references to the one in compat it compiles fine (and, of course, there is no reason to use the bsd44 compatibility package :). Now there _is_ the problem of getting the patches to libc to work. They simply _don't_. It seems that the resolver in FreeBSD 2.1 is not the same code as the Net-2 distribution.
