I am starting out with a fresh installation of X11R6 on BSDI.

When I try to run X programs, including xinit or startx, I get an error
like this:

/usr/X11R6$ xmessage -display pm1-651:0.0 
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

Can anybody point me in the direction that I can go in order to correct
this?  I am also fairly new to BSDI, I am not sure where the dynamic
library configuration files or programs are.  The only relevant file
that I could find was /usr/lib/shlib.map  But I am not sure if this is a
configuration file or if it is merely a map (like its name signifies).
I beleive that my problems lie in having incorrectly libraries.
