Try switching to/from polled mode versus interrupt mode.  To switch to
polled mode, type

	lptcontrol -p
	lptest > /dev/lpt0

For interrupt mode

	lptcontrol -i
	lptest > /dev/lpt0

If one works, use that mode.  To make the setting permanent, see

	file:/usr/share/doc/handbook/handbook.html

and select Setting Up the Spooling System, then Simple Printer Setup,
then Kernel Configuration, and look for Setting the Communication Mode
for the Parallel Port.
