I too like the idea of supporting your local computer stores.
Unfortunatly, if you live out in the boonies, like Seattle, it is hard
to come across store owners worth their salt. I bought my system from
Billy Bath at ASA computers:

ASA Computers, Inc. Tel: 408-232-5999 x201

We resell:
BSD/Servers,Digiboard,SDL-Riscom,ADTRAN-csu/dsu,Livingston,Integrand,USR,APC
etc.

Which was recomended by Paul Vixie (http://www.vixie.com). ASA mostly
builds BSDI systems, but I had no problem installing FreeBSD.

However, you may find it a bit cheaper to get a system from one of the
larger companies.
