That drive is designed to transfer *very* large a/v type files (multiple meg files) fast, but is horribly slow at writing small (3k) files, like Usenet requires. So far, w/o using a RAID system, we've only found one drive that reliably keeps up- Quantum 2.2 gig capella. Sad thing is, they don't make it anymore, although its still out in the channels. Make sure its the 5400 rpm one if you look into it. They have 2 2gig models... A good rule of thumb for news is to split it up over multiple spindles (drives) for best performance. This was learned the hard way. Good luck! Brent
