Hmmm... I remember reading about LBX just before X11R6 was released in
X Journal and I seem to remember that they were talking about on the
fly data compression.  Part of this was achieved by removing wasted
bytes from the protocol but there was still data compression involved.
I guess I have to dig out that magazine and double check.
