Special with FBSD? No! Special about the BIOS in your PC that allows you to boot any Operating System? Yes! I don't know of any OS that will boot from a partition that lies >1024 cyc. So you will have to repartition your disk. Data partitions are ok to start beyond 1024 if the OS (FBSD does) supports it. Your other choice is to get a new controler card that does cyc mapping by halfing the number of cyc and doubling the number of heads.
