I don't know if it's my machine or the OS. I can't boot from drive a: on my i486-based FreeBSD 2.0 machine. Normally, I have the CMOS setup configured to go directly to the hard drive to boot instead of first looking at the floppy. I wanted to boot from a new FreeBSD boot floppy to see what the upgrade possibilities were, so I entered the CMOS setup and reconfigured to cause the floppy to be consulted before the hard drive on bootup. But Nooooo. It behaves exactly as before, ignoring the floppy and booting directly from the hard drive. I don't know if it's the OS somehow or the hardware or the CMOS or what. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks, Ralph Huntington
