  Well, here's a possible simple solution.  Get two portables, have one
 run BSDI (or 386BSD) and the other running a terminal emulator under
 DOS.  Connect the "magic overhead thingy" to the DOS box, and then
 connect a small serial line (null modem, etc..) to the BSDI/386BSD box.

  There ya go...
