The FreeBSD installation kernel supports an unlimited number of SCSI
disks, tapes, and cdroms right out of the box. Only the number of
controllers in the GENERIC kernel is usually limited to one SCSI
controller per supported driver.

It's possible that there are device nodes missing (hence the `MAKEDEV'
advice), but the _driver_ support for more disks is there. This
discrepancy will disappear as soon as `devfs' is fully operational.
