88 open is for motorala 88000 based systemV systems.
I find it difficult that a 386/486 based berkeley system could possibly
in any way be compliant with it.

HOWEVER!

BSDI do claim (or I have seen claimed for them) the capability
of running XENIX binaries (or was that sysV386) in an upcoming release.
For linux I cannot comment.
