Hmm, stay up for a year at a time, or keep going for more than
a year at a time?  It's very easy to automatically reboot and keep
going where you left off.  Data acquisition though...  I'd say you'd
need at least a couple of machines so that one is running while the
other is rebooting.  What's supposed to happen when the power goes
out for a longer period of time than your UPC?  If you've got your
own generator, you should be able to afford multiple pc's though.
