Date: 9 Apr 1996 16:29:16 -0500 Organization: North Dakota Higher Education Computing Network (NDHECN) Lines: 19 Message-ID: <4kekrc$ap@plains.nodak.edu> NNTP-Posting-Host: plains.nodak.edu Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit I'm getting crashes while copying lots of files from a cdrom to my msdos slice. I have an Adaptec 1742 EISA SCSI controller. The HD is a Seagate SCSI. The cdrom is an NEC 6x SCSI. My system uses the latest stable build. The error says sometime about a "timeout" and then rapidly locks up. What is the main cause of this? Would inserting "sleep"s to slow down the copying help? I am definately not running into space problems. Thanks -- Daniel
