The most important thing you can do is get reliable and well designed
hardware..
Most BSD crashes I see are due to flaky hardware..

talk to rgrimes@freebsd.org for good pointers
He makes a living following what works well.

depending on what you want to do, you might want to get
one of the 'golden' releases of FreeBSD, as you probably don't
need every new feature..
If you can get a copy of 1.1.5 (ah, a good vintage)
some people have been running that for AGES (years) (nearly 2 now)
with only reboots (no crashes)
Unfortunatly we can never make guarentees..

2.1 seems good, but 2.1.1 should be better.

depends how much you are stressing it...
if it never has to page, then it will
be more reliable, and the same if it doesn't do fancy tricks with
mapping ram here and there..

so it's hard to know what our reliability willbe..
