Actually, I know of at least 2 other OS' for the Mac besides Mac-OS. Ever hear of an OS called OS-9?? (I know, not very well known, but it DOES exist). No?? Ok, what about AUX? (Unix written by Apple) Gee, you'd think that since this was posted in comp.unix.shell you would have at least heard of that one!!! As for OS's for PCS, well, I think there's a h*ll of a lot more than 4 or 5. Ok, we have, MS-Dos, PC-Dos, Novell-Dos, Linux, Sco UNIX, Sco Xenix, OS/2, Windows 95, Windows NT, Pick, OS-9000, and on and on and on. (Notice I did not include Windows 3.1. It is NOT an OS, just a GUI). Even though I am a PC user (hey, what a great gaming platform! :-) ), I have suggested to many newbies that they get a Mac. I mean, if they can't figure out a "bomb" on a Mac, how are they gonna figure out a GPF in Windoze, especially since they tend to happen a lot more often. As for programming, I personally don't like programming in any GUI. So, if we're just dealing with chips, 680x0 assembly is a lot easier (to me) than 80x86 assembly. And, I took a class on 80x86 assembly, but learned 680x0 assembly as I debugged C programs. Oh, and while we're at it, why don't we just post this to '*'???? It seems it is already posted there.
