If you see a message appear (and quickly disappear) on the bottom of the
screen, just before it is replaced by your news article/list, it may be
because /usr/local/news/inews doesn't exist.

    cd /usr/local/news
    ln -s bin/inews inews

Otherwise, you may have your config files wrong.  Is local host in
nnrpd.access ?
