The situation: I wish to have mail for a particular FreeBSD 2.1.0 machine AA.AA.AA.AA and a certain domain to get spooled on a separate machine than my main user box. In the DNS entries i have [cut] IN A AA.AA.AA.AA IN MX 10 AA.AA.AA.AA for the particular machine. and @SOA [cut] domain IN A BB.BB.BB.BB IN MX 10 AA.AA.AA.AA etc. etc. I'm using sendmail on the second mailmachine and am having a devil of a time. I'm using and sendmail.cw and hashed lookup file for resolving the second domain name throught the addresses. I have all this working great on a BSDI 2.0 box. I've built upon tcpproto.mc with the OSTYPE(bsd4.4) MAILER(local) MAILER(smtp) Fw/etc/sendmail.cw Kwmaildomain hash /etc/maildomain.db (or whatever this is from memory) LOCAL_RULE_0 with some rules that work on my main box. I've also tried using the working .mc file from my working box but. THE RESULT: Sending mail locally to both the FQDN and and the aliased domain no problems. But sending to either from another box gives the below bounce. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Wed, 10 Apr 1996 17:31:02 -0400 From: Mail Delivery Subsystem <MAILER-DAEMON@gadzook.lglobal.com> To: drop@lglobal.com Subject: Returned mail: unknown mailer error 1 The original message was received at Wed, 10 Apr 1996 17:31:01 -0400 from root@presence.lglobal.com [204.50.121.2] ----- The following addresses had delivery problems ----- <drop@gadzook.lglobal.com> (unrecoverable error) ----- Transcript of session follows ----- mail: illegal option -- r Usage: mail [-iInv] [-s subject] [-c cc-addr] [-b bcc-addr] to-addr ...
