I was trying unsuccessfully to label sd2, and ended up making a partition with fdisk and then disklabelling (I think) the partition, ie, /dev/sd2c. I knew I had seen an optical disk driver somewhere but didn't remember where :-( BTW... are there plans to write a good tutorial about disk handling in FreeBSD? I spent a lot of time until I (sort of) figured how it works.
