Don't worry about it. The people who huff and puff about `winning the desktop', and similar Windoze-chasing are the types that don't do anything about it anyway. That's the beauty of what is happenning with free Unix - there is no danger that some well-written Grand Plan comes along and stuffs the whole thing up.
