I am getting advice right now from people who really don't know what they are talking about, so I thought that I would ask here... I am a computer science student used to using UNIX at school, and have wanted to install Linux on my home computer. Then someone told me that BSD UNIX was the way to go. Then someone else told me.... So, I am going to have 2 OS's on my machine, DOS/WINDOWS, and either LINUX of UNIX. I will not be networking. I just want access to both OS's for school and other work, and stuff. I would like to be able to launch DOS/WIN applications from whichever UNIX system I choose. I have a 486/33 with 8 megs. Could I please have some suggestions? I am not a power user or trying to set up a server of any kind, just work at home, and connect to other servers for internet/school/BBS access. I have been looking at Red Hat... What do you think?
