If your are using bsd/os 2.x then you need to apply a patch.

check out:
ftp bsdi.com
/bsdi/patches/patches-2.0

Get and read the README file.

The patch you need (if you are not running kerberos) is U200-013.

You must rebuild your kernel after apply your patches...(better get all 
you need now :) )

Check out the Manual for info on rebuilding..
