I'm nearing the purchase of some new hardware for a news server setup, and I wanted to pass it by the kind folks in c.u.b.f.m to see if there are any known problems with the hardware and FreeBSD. Here's the list of stuff: HP Vectra VL4-100 (Pentium) Micropolis 1991W or Seagate 410800W hard disk (both are wide SCSI) Adaptec 2940UW (I've heard that the 2940 works fine. Does the UW part work too?) Some SCSI CD-ROM (I'm open to suggestions, if it matters what brand to get. I don't care about speed too much 'cause it will only be used for software updates, etc. What about those Panasonic PD drives?) If anyone has any (in)compatibility information about this equipment and FBSD, please email me and let me know. Thanks in advance. -- - Peter Schwenk, Academic Computing, West Chester University of Pennsylvania - pschwenk@wcupa.edu
