Just after I posted my question, I found a site in japan that had a patched boot.flp and kernel patches, etc., for FreeBSD R2.1.0, as well as the SNAP2.2 release. The patches support a ton of different pcmcia cards, and the READMEs and other docs were extremely thorough. After installing 2.1R using the patched boot floppy, I installed the kernel patches, built the card manager daemons that were included, etc., and within 2 hours I was up and running with a good network connection. These patches can be found at: http://www.mt.cs.keio.ac.jp/person/hosokawa/freebsd-pcmcia/ thanks again, tom
