At the same time it is an example of a company who is apparently having a change of heart about their support for free unix. I haven't bought a card yet. I won't buy a xircom card until I see someone at least beta testing a BSD driver for it. If I need a card before then I'll buy another brand that is already supported. I don't make compatability assumptions based on what a salesperson tells me.
