Not even from the floppy! {snip} I do not have the Max card, but I do have a Promise IDE card. What I found was that it booted from floppy, but wouild not regognize the hard disk. I had to disable the onboard bios via a jumper setting to allow it to use the system bios that FreeBSD requires. You might want to look into this direction.
