The easiest way to boot off the second drive is to tell the controller BIOS to boot that drive's ID and LUN. You can access the BIOS on the Adaptec through Ctrl-A (I believe...) at startup. FreeBSD doesn't really care which drive it is on. If you are going to run more than one OS on the same computer I would strongly recommend a Boot Manager of some sort. I use the OS/2 boot manager and is seems to work just fine. I can switch between Linux/FreeBSD/Windows '95 and DOS 6.22 with no problems. The advantage of the boot manager is that you can boot any _partition_ that is bootable. Hence you can have several OS's on one drive and select between them. As far as FreeBSD and the Adaptec.... They work great together. Things are very fast and seem pretty reliable so far.... :) Good luck with your install! I hope all goes well. Watch out for that first step where you have to set up your 'slices'. It can get a little confusing, esp coming from Linux. Just read everything carefully before committing. Best regards! -Dave
