However, I am having a few difficutlies. I have been using the novice installation routine. I have a 486, IDE, PS2 mouse, Soundblaster/Panasonic CDROM, and 12M of Ram. The same problems have occurred when installing from either CD (2.1 or 2.2). I put the boot manager in the superblock, not the MBR. If anyone has workarounds, I would really appreciate any help! 1) Partitioning: FreeBSD's FDISK seems to mess up Logical drives on my extended partition. When I boot up and go to DOS, I get errors informing me of this. Also, a Ramdrive suddenly won't work. Further, Linux's CFDISK informs me that there is a bad partition, and refuses to run. This happens only after installing FreeBSD. 2) I gave FreeBSD 90 M, tried a minimal install, and was quickly told that I did not have enough space devoted to BSD. Does not the minimal install take 44M? I suppose this does not include swap, but how much swap should I need? 3) I would like to setup PLIP (parallel port IP) and/or something compatile with DOS' INTERLINK and/or Win95's direct cable connection. Is this possible? Can I at least import Linux' PLIP? 4) When I gave BSD about 200M, it did not complain, but eventually it locked up, or at least locked the keyboard and mouse up when the system went into power saver mode. During the install, after some files were copied (I do not know at exactly what point), this occurred, and CTRL-ALT-DELETE even could do nothing. Well, that's it. I commend the FreeBSD for putting this OS together; I look forward to using it. Have a good spring/summer, everyone! *Please reply by E-MAIL; thanks! * -Luke Wadel lrw118@mail.usask.ca
