Summary: Apparently, UCB are considering the abandonment of their defence of BSD
Keywords: UCB defence
Followups-To: alt.suit.att-bsdi

I have heard a rumour today from a foafoaf (so some disbelief is acceptable)
that UCB is considering dropping their defence of BSD. This perhaps
explains why they have discontinued the distribution of NET/2, and have
solicited Real Mail (tm) from organisations to explain to them why they
should not drop their defence of the Lawsuit.

If this occurs, what happens to 386BSD (blessed be the names of Bill and
Lynne) or BSDI? Surely neither of these two have financial resources to
back a long-term legal seige? Will ATT (or USL or whatever they call
themselves these days) be able to yank all copies of NET/2 or BSD from the
net? What happens to people who already have copies of these sets of code?

Peter
